Through reading a woman lived with her husband in a town beside the river.
I think the soldier should kill the woman.

The first reason I think the soldier should kill the woman is that the requirement from leader should be strictly enforced in an army. The military criminal code is very strictly. Military officer requires the soldier to guard the bridge so the soldier should executive order. Solder has no power to know why he needs to guard the bridge but if the officer asks him to do it, it must have some strategic importance. If he allows the woman to go across the bridge it may be lead to officer’s plan fail.

The second reason why the soldier should kill the woman is that if the military will control a city it should be in an urgent situation. Under emergency situation military can force to do all things and all of citizens should follow military’s requirement.

The third reason why the soldier should kill the woman is a soldier does not know she is just a normal person or a spy. If the woman is a spy she will steal intelligence even she can blast the bridge. It not only will destroy the bridge and plan but also let his comrades and himself dead. To guarantee the plan successful and his personal safety he should kill the woman.

The last reason is soldier already tell the law and consequence to the woman. However, she still wants to break the law. Under this situation, the act of killing the woman is fair and reasonable.


That is the reason about why I think the soldier should kill the woman.

    is it fair and reasonable for a soldier to kill a non-combatant such as the woman?

On the one hand , the woman in this story is an immoral and unethical woman because she broke the vows with her husband. For example, the woman took a lover who lived across the bridge on the other side of the river meanwhile her husband had to go away for three months. On day, she heard that her husband was coming with her, therefore she left her lover to came back home. However, the soldier did not let her through the bridge, he told her that he would shoot her if the woman tried to cross the bridge. Moreover, she asked the boatman nearby the bridge for take her cross the river, but the boatman wanted $100 from her to do that. On the other hand, she asked her lover who destroyed her family’s happiness for money, but he refused. Finally, she tried to cross the river and she was shot by the soldier, that is result of the traitor.

Brazil a father and a son

Today, we had read a story about one of Brazil lottery winner nearly murdered by his father. The father was planning to kill his son because of $16 million jackpots. This story made me think about which are essential to our life? Money or blood relationships? Which one needs to be blamed?  In my opinion, the father needs to be criticized than his son because of his illegal decision and immoral actions. Firstly, from a legal point of view, whether the son kills or not, his father’s behavior which he hired two killers to kill his son have committed a crime. As everyone has the right to live, nobody’s  life can be deprived arbitrarily by someone else. Even they are a blood relationship. Secondly, the father disregards moral values.
